How did you attract/address your audience?
To attract my target audience I used a main feature image of
a teenage girl who was dressed like a new and upcoming solo R&B music
artist. The colours I used on my cover and in my house-style would also attract
my target audience as they would associate the golds, blacks, greys, and
whites, with existing R&B media products available to them and would be
more interested to purchase my product because of this.
The direct address of the girl on my cover could address the
audience and influence them to look at my product. This would also make them
feel a connection with the subject and be more likely to purchase the product
as they felt that they could relate to the artist on the product. This is a
technique I learnt to use through my research into existing R&B music
magazines, and other magazines too.
The plug attracts the audience as it stands out from the
background of the cover which makes it eye-catching and the colour of gold is
appealing and eye-catching. Equally, the thought of getting something free when
you purchase the media product is also very appealing to the audience as they
feel they are gaining something they want through the product, and they are
influenced to buy it if it means they get a good deal. The fact that the plug
also relates to the main feature story and the image on the cover also appeals
to my audience as they have already formed a connection with the artist and to
get additional material on her would be beneficial to them.
The price, date, and barcode addresses the audience clearly
without taking the focus away from the main feature image, this informs them of
all the essentials. The location is subtle but conventional of this type of
media product so the audience can access it easily.
